Here is a thought that might help you budget for your replacement windows.  Many consumers are considering vinyl replacements, which have become not only economical, but extremely efficient - and it is a good "average" starting point for your budget.  The cost of the window will vary between $100 and $400 depending on size and glass style.  $250 per window is a safe estimate.  Materials and labor will run another $200-250 per opening for a "standard" replacement (dry-wall interior, siding or brick exterior).  This means that if you budget $500 per window, you should be in the "ball-park" for a good quality replacement window, with a lifetime warranty.  Doors are far too variant in cost to budget without considering the style, choice, and location in the home.
